Winter Lights Festival: A Holiday Tradition Has Returned to Seneca Creek State Park

Gaithersburg’s Winter Lights Festival presents its 24th year of seasonal light displays at Seneca Creek State Park. This drive takes visitors through an enchanting 3.5-mile display of 450-plus holiday lights and decorated trees. A rendition of Cinderella, the prince and the castle; a family of penguins, polar bears, and snowmen; and even trumpeters and snowflakes will guide you through an illuminating festive fantasy. Take a break by the hay bales and roast a marshmallow over a fire to warm up on cold winter nights.

Along with the Winter Lights Festival, Seneca Creek State Park features a variety of events, such as Wine Under the Lights and Leashes ‘n’ Lights. The full schedule for more family fun events can be found on the Gaithersburg government website and social media.

The event welcomes visitors now through Dec. 31 and is open 6-9 p.m. Sundays to Thursdays and 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available for a discounted price when purchased online or for full price on site. A portion of ticket sales go toward local charities.
