Warm weather is here and that means lots of outdoor activities, especially at places like Seneca Creek State Park. This Gaithersburg-area park offers 6,300 acres of recreational opportunities along 14 miles of Seneca Creek. If you’d like to spend some time on the water, you can certainly walk along the creek, but you might also consider heading over to Clopper Lake, where you can rent a boat to take out onto the lake itself, or enjoy the view from the shore at one of the picnic areas on the water’s edge.
The park’s 50 miles of trails also offer plenty of hiking and biking opportunities through preserved woodland areas. History buffs will enjoy visiting the park’s restored 19th century cabin (with self-guided tour), while families with kids will want to head over to the playground equipment or athletic fields. There’s something for everyone at Seneca Creek State Park.
